The Buffalo Sabres continued their scorching stretch Saturday night at KeyBank Center, rolling past the Boston Bruins 4-1 to extend their win streak to eight, matching its longest win streak since 2018.
Mattias Samuelsson led the way with a goal and two assists, all coming during a decisive second period that turned a one-goal deficit into a commanding Buffalo lead. Ryan McLeod and Peyton Krebs scored 1:33 apart early in the frame before Samuelsson capped the surge with his sixth goal of the season.
Josh Norris sealed the win with an empty-net goal in the final minute, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen delivered another steady performance in net, stopping 21 shots.
The Sabres had to respond after David Pastrnak opened the scoring late in the first period for Boston, but they flipped the script quickly in the second. McLeod tied the game 1:39 into the period, finishing off a strong forecheck, before Krebs buried his second of the season to give Buffalo the lead. Samuelsson added insurance less than five minutes later with a shot through traffic.
Buffalo controlled the pace the rest of the way, limiting Boston’s chances while generating consistent pressure. The Bruins, who entered the night sliding, dropped their fifth straight game despite 30 saves from Joonas Korpisalo.
The Sabres were without captain Rasmus Dahlin, who missed the game for personal reasons. He is expected to rejoin the team for its upcoming road trip.
Next, the Sabres open a three-game road trip Monday against the St. Louis Blues at 8 p.m.
