A National Hockey League insider has given a big update this week on the Boston Bruins’ pursuit of Vancouver Canucks pending UFA forward Kiefer Sherwood.
Since Patrik Allvin made his pending unrestricted free agents available, a number of teams have expressed interest in Kiefer Sherwood, including the Boston Bruins, who are hoping to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs after missing out during the 2024-25 campaign.
While Boston might have a high level of interest in Kiefer Sherwood, it appears that the club isn’t going to be targeting rental players in the lead up to the deadline, which could damper their chances of landing the 30-year-old winger, unless they’re able to receive permission from the Vancouver Canucks to work out a contract extension as part of a trade.
With just 69 days to go until the National Hockey League’s trade deadline for the 2025-26 season and lengthy roster freeze coming in February during the Winter Olympics, we could potentially see Kiefer Sherwood moved much sooner than March 6th.
