The Sabres’ 8-game winning streak has reignited fans’ hopes of ending their postseason drought.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Yes, it’s true: The Buffalo Sabres have now won eight straight games.

The Sabres beat the Boston Bruins 4-1 on Saturday night ay KeyBank Center, giving fans hope that the league’s longest postseason drought might come to an end this season.

They were confident well before the puck dropped before the fifth sellout crowd of the season. After all, the Sabres’ current win streak is the longest active such streak in the NHL.

“Phenomenal,” one fan told 2 On Your Side’s Alissa Clausell before Saturday’s game. “To to be a part of the Sabrehood and to be able to proudly say, ‘Yeah, I’m a Sabres fan, all the way here in Australia,’ no shame. I’ve never had any shame to begin with, but now I’m even more proud to be a Sabres fan.”

Another fan added: “I don’t know what happened midseason. I don’t know what Lindy (Ruff) said to the guys to get the spark going, but he better keep it going.”

The last time the team was on a winning streak like this was in November of 2018, when the Sabres won 10 in a row. That streak started on Nov. 8 and ran through Nov. 27.

According to the team, this is the Sabres’ ninth winning streak of eight or more games in franchise history, and their fourth since since the 2005-06 season.

Following Saturday’s win, Sabres coach Lindy Ruff talked about what’s changed for the team during this winning streak.

“We’ve gotten ourselves healthy, the lineup is deeper, the lines have had some good continuity to them. It’s like a competition between the lines now. You know, who can go out and do the best job, I think,” he said.
