Freshman David Adaszynski scored 36 seconds into overtime to lift UMass Lowell past Bentley, 3-2, during a hockey exhibition game Sunday afternoon at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.

The goal capped a strong comeback by the River Hawks, who trailed 2-0 entering the third period.

In overtime, defenseman TJ Schweighardt got around a Bentley defender near the boards, skated to the bottom of the right faceoff circle and dropped a pass to Adaszynski, who wristed a 20-foot shot past Bentley goalie Easton Hesse.

UML held a 32-15 shots advantage over Bentley.

Down 2-0, the River Hawks pulled to within a goal thanks to a wrist shot from Dillan Bentley after a nice hustle play and backhand pass by Chris Delaney. The hosts tied it with 1:43 left in regulation on the power play.

Libor Nemec skated in and sent a high shot under the crossbar over Hesse after passes by Schweighardt and Jak Vaarwerk.

Austin Elliott stopped all four shots he faced in relief of starting goaltender Samuel Richard, who rejected nine shots and allowed two goals.

UML (6-11-0) will compete in the Cactus Cup in Palm Springs, Calif. On Friday, the River Hawks will face Minnesota State and then battle St. Cloud or Yale on Saturday.
