Going into the holiday break, the Flyers seemed to take advantage of the opportunities they had in front of them to grab some points. Coming out of the break, they were unable to keep the momentum.
The first game back was a struggle for the Flyers, who generated plenty of chances but were mostly unable to solve Philipp Grubauer in a 4-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Sunday night.
The Flyers had two power plays in the first period but were unable to capitalize. Through 20 minutes, shots were 10-7 Flyers.
The Kraken took the lead at 3:48 of the second off a defensive breakdown for the Flyers. Jordan Eberle was left alone in the slot and scored his 14th goal of the season to make it 1-0.
Through two periods, shots were 18-14 Flyers.
Early in the third, another miscue led to a Seattle goal. A miscommunication behind the net allowed the Kraken to get the puck in front and Chandler Stephenson to score his 10th goal of the season to make it 2-0.
Seattle iced the game with an empty-net goal by Eeli Tolvanen with 2:29 to play. Carl Grundstrom scored his sixth goal of the season with 1:57 to play to get the Flyers on the board, but Tolvanen added another empty-netter with 1:36 left to cap the scoring.
That was all the offense needed for Grubauer, who stopped 31 of 32 shots faced. Dan Vladar made 16 saves on 18Â shots.
Tolvanen had three points for Seattle. Stephenson had two points.
The Flyers continue the road trip on Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks at 10 p.m.
