Source: Kiefer Sherwood to Montreal Could be Soon (e4)
Let’s face it…despite the injury-torn Panthers struggles, to get the prize in the postseason you are going to have to be able to play with their physicality….
That was part of the discussion I had with a key source today who added: “Montreal has targeted Sherwood because he brings something few skaters in the NHL can match….physical dominance at an elite level.”
Sherwood set the NHL single-season hits record in 2024-25 with 462 total hits, far outpacing the competition and turning his strength into a genuine impact weapon. He also became the fastest player in league history to reach 300 hits in a season, doing so in just 52 games, underscoring how consistently he drives play with physicality. For a Canadiens team looking to add bite, energy, and a middle-six presence that can tilt momentum… the kind of player who can change a game without needing the puck to score…however..
In addition to being the NHL’s hitting leader, Kiefer Sherwood has also delivered surprisingly strong offensive production, making him even more appealing on the trade market. In the 2024-25 season, Sherwood posted 19 goals and 21 assists for 40 points over 78 games, all career highs, while setting the league mark for hits with 462… This year have already has 16 goals in only 37 games….
These kind of numbers mean he is on almost EVREY team’s list….However, I am told Montreal is the closest to getting this done, so stay tuned…
