TRIA Prep Salute, Dec. 30: Hill-Murray girls hockey tops Orono

Every Tuesday at 6:50 p.m. during the high school year, we recognize an athlete or team with our TRIA Prep Salute.

This week the honor goes to the Hill-Murray Pioneers girls hockey team. We were at their game on Tuesday afternoon in St. Louis Park and they topped Orono, 6-1. Since the calendar flipped to December, the Pioneers are 6-2.

The Pioneers are the defending 2A state champs after finishing runner-up the previous year.

Their head coaches are Minnesota hockey legends John and Krissy Pohl.
