A National Hockey League insider has linked Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood to a Pacific Division rival as trade talks begin to heat up entering the New Year.
“According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that – in an effort to get younger – they are willing to listen to offers on ‘veteran players.'” Elliotte Friedman said.
“The Ottawa Citizen’s Bruce Garrioch reports that six NHL teams have “kicked the tires” on a trade for Sherwood:
Boston Bruins
Dallas Stars
New York Islanders
Ottawa Senators
Philadelphia Flyers
Tampa Bay Lightning” Billy Heyen of The Sporting News said recently.
Pacific Division rival enters the mix for Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood
The Canucks have set a very high asking price for Kiefer Sherwood, which is understandable given what he’s brought to the club over the last 14+ months, as Patrik Allvin is reportedly seeking a first round pick as well as another asset.
“I think they’ve had some interest in [Kiefer] Sherwood,” Elliotte Friedman said about the San Jose Sharks.
The good news for the Vancouver Canucks is that the San Jose Sharks have a ton of assets to work with in a potential trade as General Manager Mike Grier has two 2026 first round picks and a boatload of prospects he could use to try and land Kiefer Sherwood.
Among the prospects that could be of interest to Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks include Filip Bystedt, Kasper Halttunen and Haoxi Wang.
With all those assets, the San Jose Sharks might hold a significant advantage over other teams in the mix for Kiefer Sherwood and it’s going to be very interesting to see where the Columbus, Ohio native ends up before March 6th.
