The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced some encouraging news regarding injured goaltender Anthony Stolarz.
Stolarz, 31, skated for the first time Wednesday since suffering an upper-body injury on Nov. 11 in a game against the Boston Bruins.
The Maple Leafs, who haven’t revealed any specifics about Stolarz’s injury, said there is still no timetable for his return to game action. Head coach Craig Berube has previously stated that Stolarz is not dealing with a concussion.

Stolarz struggled over his first 13 appearances of the season in October and November, posting a 6-5-1 record alongside a 3.51 goals-against average and a .884 save percentage.
The native of Edison, NJ was coming off a career season in 2024-25 when he recorded a 2.14 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage over 34 games in his first season with the Maple Leafs.
Stolarz’s strong campaign led to a new four-year, $15 million contract, featuring an average annual value of $3.75 million.
In other injury news, captain Auston Matthews, who missed Tuesday’s win against the New Jersey Devils with a lower-body injury, was among the players on the ice for an optional skate on Wednesday.
Matthews will be reevaluated on Thursday.
Joseph Woll, who missed time earlier this season due to a personal leave, has a 2.43 goals-against average over 13 games while Dennis Hildeby owns a 2.87 goals-against average over 14 games.
The Maple Leafs are slowing working their way up the Atlantic Division standings, currently sitting in sixth position with a 18-15-6 record, three points out of a wild-card spot.
Toronto hosts the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday before heading to Long Island to play the Islanders on Saturday.
Tanev Out Again
Chris Tanev’s injury-riddled campaign has taken another setback.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said on Wednesday that the veteran defenceman is expected to miss “significant time” with a groin injury.
“They’re looking at things forward here, so I’m not gonna speculate on what they’re gonna exactly do,” Berube said ahead of Thursday’s game with the Winnipeg Jets. “But he’s gonna be out a while.”
Tanev, 36, did not dress in the team’s 4-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night. He previously missed 23 games with an upper-body injury, returning to the lineup on Dec. 23.
He has two assists in 11 games this season.
