Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote has given an injury update this week on forward Teddy Blueger, who has been out of the lineup for a little over two months.

It’s been a rough season for the Vancouver Canucks on the injury front as the club has had several of their players on the sidelines at various points, which is part of the reason why they sit near the bottom of the National Hockey League’s overall standings.

In the days following Blueger’s injury, the Vancouver Canucks were forced to place him on injured reserve (IR) and there have been sporadic updates on his status and when he could return, but it appears that the Latvian forward could be back in game action soon.

Vancouver Canucks’ Adam Foote gives injury update on Teddy Blueger

While meeting with reporters prior to Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote gave a couple of injury updates including one on Teddy Blueger.

According to Foote, Teddy Blueger is a few weeks away, possibly only two, from making his return to the Vancouver Canucks lineup, which is great news for Patrik Allvin, who is looking to trade most, if not all, of his pending unrestricted free agents before the deadline in early March.

“Adam Foote says «a few weeks, maybe two» when asked about a possible timeline for Teddy Blueger’s return. Foote also said he’s not sure if Derek Forbort will play again this year.” Brendan Batchelor said on X.

Blueger’s return to the lineup, which looks like it’ll be at some point in January, is not only good news for the Vancouver Canucks, it’s also music to the ears of the Latvian men’s national team as the 31-year-old is set to play a massive role for his country at the 2026 Winter Olympics where they’re in a group with Denmark, Germany and the United States.

From a trade perspective, it’s going to be interesting to see what Patrik Allvin and the Canucks could get for a player like Teddy Blueger because while he’s only appeared in two games, he’s looked good in both, so if they can walk away with a third or fourth round pick – depending on his performances between now and March 6th – that would be a big win for the organization.
