Sports Seriously

San Jose Sharks young star forward Macklin Celebrini is taking his talents to the Olympic Winter Games Milan Cortina in February 2026 to represent his Canadian roots in Italy.

Team Canada announced their 25-man roster on Wednesday, which includes Celebrini, who is from North Vancouver in British Columbia.

Celebrini joins a stacked roster that includes the likes of Pittsburgh Penguins centre Sidney Crosby, Edmonton Oilers centre Connor McDavid and Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar.

Their first game is Feb. 12 against Team Czechia, followed by Team Switzerland on Feb. 13 and Team France on Feb. 15.

Celebrini, a 19-year-old lefty, has already made his name known around the National Hockey League, which gave him consideration to compete on the Olympic stage, something NHL players haven’t done since 2014.

So far in his young career, which began in the 2024-25 season where he was the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NHL draft, Celebrini accounted for 123 points on 46 goals and 77 assists.

The announcement comes after the Sharks won back-to-back matches against the Anaheim Ducks and Vancouver Canucks.

The Sharks (19-17-3) are currently fifth in the standings in the Pacific Division.
