Montreal Canadiens

Defenceman Mike Matheson is on the ice for practice after missing yesterday’s game against Carolina Hurricanes.

Matheson took an elbow to the head from Panthers forward Brad Marchand in Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Florida. Matheson took the hit in overtime and Marchand was given a two-minute penalty for roughing.

Nick Suzuki would score on the ensuing power play to give Montreal the win. Marchand did not receive any supplemental discipline for the hit. Matheson was set to play against Carolina but was ruled out close to game time.

Matheson has four goals and 18 points in 37 games with Montreal this season, his fourth with the team.

Since being acquired from the Wild in the trade that sent Quinn Hughes to Minnesota, Rossi has a goal and an assist in eight games with the Canucks.

Bains has one goal and five points in 26 games with Vancouver this season and six points in five AHL contests.
