We have some action today out of Brossard, and it’s excellent news for the Montreal Canadiens up front.
Martin St-Louis could soon be getting some solid reinforcements. A video from Brossard shows Patrik Laine on the ice, reigniting hope of a return to play. On Friday, a post quickly made the rounds, suggesting a return in February.
The Montreal Canadiens have not publicly confirmed any date, but an announcement should be called shortly on this matter.
A topic that will come up at today’s press conference for the Montreal Canadiens
Seeing an injured player skating always brings some optimism. What draws attention here is the context surrounding the Canadiens’ injury list.
Laine is 27 years old, and his contract is also part of the equation. We’re talking about a player paid like a big name, around $9M per season. When a salary like that is sidelined, fans want answers.
The most important thing is to remain cautious with what we’re seeing. A skating session does not mean an immediate return to the lineup. It can also simply be another step forward in a progression, without a firm timetable, but it remains very encouraging.
Adding another player to the mix would be a very positive development.
For now, one thing stands out above all else. Laine is back on the ice, and that’s already better than silence.
