Bo Horvat has been ruled out for the next week and will be reevaluated after that, the New York Islanders announced Friday.
“He’s not going to play this week, and we’re going to evaluate him after the week,” Islanders coach Patrick Roy said.
Horvat will miss Saturday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs and matchups against the New Jersey Devils and Nashville Predators next week.
The injury he suffered Thursday is not believed to be serious enough to impact his Olympic availability for Team Canada, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports.
The New York Islanders forward sustained what appeared to be a lower-body injury in a 7-2 loss to the Utah Mammoth. Islanders head coach Patrick Roy said there was no immediate update postgame and that Horvat would see a doctor on Friday.
Horvat was forced to leave the game in the third period after he was hit by Mammoth defenceman Sean Durzi. The 30-year-old centre awkwardly fell to the ice but was able to leave the ice on his own.
Sounds like Bo Horvat’s injury isn’t too serious. Certainly not when it comes to Olympic implications. Good news for Team Canada 🇨🇦
