A mid-season trade from the Vancouver Canucks to the Minnesota Wild hasn’t slowed Hughes down one bit. In fact, it helped him make some hockey history on Friday night.
Hughes dished out four assists for the Wild in a 5-2 win over the Ducks.
For a defenseman, four assists is already a remarkable outing.
Hughes has already reached that total in a game this season, though, for the Canucks.
And so he is now the first defenseman to have four-assist games with two different teams in the same season, according to Sportsnet.

Hughes played 26 games this season with the Canucks before the trade and had 23 points (2 goals, 21 assists).
He has now played 10 games with the Wild and has 11 points (1 goal, 10 assists).
He’s averaged more than 27 minutes of ice time in both stops.
Hughes has also put up a similar rate of blocked shots in both uniforms so far.
The Wild knew they were getting a superstar when they made the trade with Vancouver. So far, Hughes has proven them correct.
