Boston Bruins forward Elias Lindholm has been named to Team Sweden’s roster for the Olympic Winter Games in Milan, Italy, which is set to begin in February. However, another Lindholm has been left off the team.
The 31-year-old Elias Lindholm has appeared in 31 games with Boston this season, recording six goals and 19 assists for 25 points. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound forward has skated in 931 career NHL games with Boston, Vancouver, Calgary, and Carolina, registering 241 goals and 388 assists. Lindholm ranks tied for second on the team in assists and fourth in points this season. The Boden, Sweden native was originally selected by Carolina in the first round (5th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Boston signed Lindholm on July 1, 2024, to a seven-year contract with an annual salary cap hit of $7.75 million.
Elias Lindholm led Sweden to a bronze medal at the 2025 IIHF World Championship, where he was the tournament’s leading scorer with eight goals and tied for second in points with 14. The forward was also named to the tournament’s All-Star Team and selected as one of Team Sweden’s top three performers. Lindholm was also a part of Sweden’s team at the 2025 Four Nations Face-Off in February 2025. Lindholm has a long history of international play at the IIHF World Championship. The forward also earned silver medals for Team Sweden at the 2012 U-18 World Championship and 2013 and 2014 World Junior Championships.
Lindholm’s Boston Bruins teammate Hampus Lindholm was a notable omission from the team, however. Rasmus Andersson (Flames), Philip Broberg (Blues), Jonas Brodin (Wild), Rasmus Dahlin (Sabres), Oliver Ekman-Larsson (Maple Leafs), Gustav Forsling (Panthers), Victor Hedman (Lightning), and Erik Karlsson (Penguins) will all play in Italy without Hampus Lindholm.
Hampus Lindholm suffered a knee fracture last season and missed the beginning of the 2025-26 season due to his recovery. In 33 games through January 2, Lindholm has collected three goals and 13 assists with a minus-7. Hampus Lindholm is a big part of the Bruins’ defensive core and averages over 22 minutes per game of average ice time.
The blueliner was acquired by the Bruins from the Anaheim Ducks on March 19, 2022, and signed an eight-year, $52 million extension a short time later. Hampus Lindholm has registered 76 goals and 250 assists in 795 regular-season games with a plus-140 rating. Lindholm has played 82 postseason games with 26 points.
Hampus Lindholm last played for Sweden in international play at the 2018 World Championships and collected six assists in ten games while winning a Gold Medal.
Lindholm led the NHL in plus/minus with a plus-49 during the 2022-23 season as the Bruins recorded the best regular-season record in NHL history. The 31-year-old defenseman was the sixth pick overall in the 2012 NHL Draft by the Ducks and the fourth defenseman chosen. Lindholm did not play in the Four Nations Face-Off last season due to his injury and has needed time to find his game since returning to the lineup.
