After another disappointing loss last night, the Carolina Hurricanes (24-14-3) packed up and traveled to New Jersey and will take on the Devils (22-17-2) tonight at the Prudential Center.
The Canes are in a rough patch and have lost three games in a row. They are 4-5-1 in their last 10 games.
The Devils have won two straight and they are 5-4-1 in their last 10.
Carolina’s newly assembled first line of Aho, Svechnikov, and Ehlers has been dangerous and the team will be hoping for more of the same tonight because the rest of their lineup has been pretty quiet.
The Hurricanes did not have a morning skate but I would look for Brandon Bussi to be in net. Bussi took a loss in his last game so he will be looking to right the ship tonight.
He still has an amazing 13-2-1 record.
The lines should look like the following, with the strong possibility of some minor tweaking by the coach.
Svechnikov – Aho – Ehlers
Martinook – Staal – Stankoven
Robinson – Kotkaniemi – Carrier
Nystrom – Nikishin/Reilly
While the Canes are still missing two of their best players, (Jarvis and Slavin), Jack Hughes has returned for the home team and has obviously made his presence known.
Amanda Stein does a great job covering the Devils. The lines she posted for a recent practice were as follows:
The Canes will be looking to regroup while the Devils will be looking to keep things going. It should be a good one tonight.
