We have another change to announce regarding the first goal scored by the Montreal Canadiens against the Dallas Stars.
On Sunday, the NHL indeed changed the Montreal Canadiens’ first goal.
At first, many believed that Phillip Danault had scored his first goal of the season (including the Montreal Canadiens).
A few minutes later, the story changed, and the goal was credited to Brendan Gallagher.
According to the information reported, the puck first touched Danault, then went on to hit Brendan Gallagher. The correction therefore turns Danault’s goal into an assist once the scoresheet is adjusted.
“No goal for Danault, but since the puck brushed his leg, he was credited with an assist. He picks up his first point since returning in a Canadiens uniform.”

This type of change happens more often than people think during the regular season. A goal can be corrected after a quick review, especially when there is a deflection in heavy traffic.
Phillip Danault will have to wait before celebrating his first goal scored with the Montreal Canadiens since the trade
The impact is simple on the scoresheet, but it is important for the player. Danault therefore gets his first assist of the season, instead of keeping a goal.
“Confirmed: DANAULT’S 400TH NHL POINT!”
For Gallagher, the goal remains on his total, and it will also do him a lot of good. In Montreal, players like Danault and Gallagher are constantly under the microscope. So when the NHL corrects the Canadiens’ first goal, it automatically becomes a small story within the bigger one.
