The Bruins are looking to close out this five-game road trip with three straight victories after having a six-game losing streak cap off a five-game home stand and continue into the first two games of this stretch away from home. After Tuesday’s matchup in Seattle, the team returns to TD Garden in Boston for five straight, a run that also concludes with a meeting against the Kraken.
On Saturday, the Bruins improved to 22-18-2 thanks to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Vancouver Canucks. Fraser Minten opened the scoring with a power play goal in the first only for the Canucks to even things up at 1 fewer than 50 seconds into the start of the second. Elias Lindholm but Boston back on top, but that wasn’t for too long as Vancouver had the score tied up before the start of the third. After a scoreless third, Minten closed the game with hist 8th goal of the season after a little less than five minutes of extra action.
The Kraken have won three straight and seven of their last eight to get to 19-14-7 after losing 10 of 11 between late November and mid-December. This is the first of two games in Seattle for the squad before embarking on its own five-game road trip, that includes stops in New York, New Jersey and Boston. On Monday, the Kraken knocked of the Calgary Flames, 5-1, as Jacob Melanson scored his 1st goal of the season to tie things up in the second, and then in the third, the onslaught began, starting with Shane Wright, followed by Vince Dunn, and then Frederick Gaudreau scored an empty netter, just for Matty Beniers to close the scoring 14 seconds later and cap off a 5-0 run.
