The 2026 Winter Olympics is already shaping up to be an exciting moment for Colorado.

When and Where the 2026 Winter Olympics Will Take Place

This year’s games will be held in Italy and co-hosted by the cities of Milan and Cortina with the opening ceremonies taking place on February 6th, 2026.

The games will run from February 6th to the 22nd, according to the official Olympics website. Less than two weeks later the Paralympic games will run from March 6th through the 15th.

Nelson was traded to Colorado in March of 2025.

His uncle and grandfather both helped the U.S. win gold in previous Olympic games.

Erie, Colorado Native Jaccob Slavin Joins Team USA

Another key piece to Team USA’s roster is Jaccob Slavin.

This Carolina Hurricanes defenseman is originally from Erie, Colorado and this will be his first Olympics, according to reports.

He’s an alum Colorado College.

Colorado Avalanche Players Representing Team Canada at the Olympics

Team Canada has three Colorado Avalanche players on their roster for the upcoming games.

Nathan Mackinnon (Forward), Devon Toews (Defense), and Cale Makar (Defense) will be representing Canada on the ice, according to reports.

Avalanche Players Competing for Finland and Sweden in 2026

Artturi Lehkonen and Joel Kiviranta will both be playing for Finland’s national team in Italy this February.

Gabriel Landeskog will be representing Team Sweden on the ice during the Olympic games.
