The Calgary Flames may wind up having just one player representing the organization at the 2026 Olympics.

Heading into the 2025-26 season, there were a number of Flames players who, at the very least, were on the Olympic radar.

MacKenzie Weegar was in the mix to crack Canada’s roster but wound up being left off after struggling early in the season. There were even some who felt Dustin Wolf could force his way onto USA’s roster, but he, too, failed to make it happen.

Though Mikael Backlund’s chances to play for Sweden didn’t seem great heading into the season, many felt his strong start to the season, one which has him on pace for over 50 points, would be enough. But he was also left off in what was a somewhat puzzling snub.

On Tuesday, yet another Flames forward, Adam Klapka, was snubbed from the Olympics.

Klapka, who has four goals and nine points in 41 games this season, was thought by most to have a very good shot at cracking Czechia’s roster. However, when the team was revealed on Tuesday, his name was noticeably absent in favour of many non-NHL players.

With Klapka failing to be named to Czechia, the only Flames player who is guaranteed to suit up in the Olympics right now is Rasmus Andersson. The 29-year-old has 27 points through 42 games in what may be the best season of his career.

Of course, it isn’t out of the question that one of the players mentioned above could still represent their respective country at the Olympics. Games won’t begin until Feb. 11, meaning we could see some injuries before it gets underway.

Not to be forgotten about is Martin Pospisil, who was one of the six players named to Slovakia’s roster over the summer. The 26-year-old has yet to play this season due to an undisclosed injury, but has been skating recently as he looks to get back into the lineup.
