Unrestricted free agent defenceman Egor Zamula is signing a one-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets, according to his agent Dan Milstein.
Zamula cleared unconditional waivers on Tuesday and his contract was terminated by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Zamula was originally acquired by the Penguins from the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 31 in exchange for Philip Tomasino. He was suspended shortly after being traded for failing to report to the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
He had one assist in 13 appearances with the Flyers this season and notched two assists in three games in the AHL with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
The Chelyabinsk, Russia native has scored eight goals with 41 points in 168 career NHL games with the Flyers.
