Edmonton Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl and Ottawa Senators top scorer Tim Stutzle headline the Team Germany roster for the 2026 Olympics in Milan.
The top end of Germany’s roster, released Wednesday morning, is heavy on NHL experience.
Draisaitl, Stutzle, Utah Mammoth forward J.J. Peterka, Minnesota Wild forward Nico Sturm, Detroit Red Wings defenceman Moritz Seider and Seattle Kraken goaltender Philipp Grubauer are all on NHL rosters this season.
Draisaitl is fifth in NHL scoring this season with 60 points while Stutzle leads Ottawa in goals (19) and points (45).
Vancover Canucks winger Lukas Reichel and Tampa Bay Lightning forward Wojciech Stachowiak are the two players on the roster currently in the AHL, while the rest currently play overseas.
Germany’s best finish in Olympic men’s hockey was in 2018 at the PyeongChang Games, without NHL players participating, when they took home the silver medal after losing 4-3 in overtime to the Olympic Athletes From Russia in the gold-medal game.
The Germans also took home silver at the 2023 IIHF World Championships, losing 5-2 to Canada in the final.
Denmark unveils Olympic roster
Team Denmark also unveiled its roster on Wednesday with Carolina Hurricanes winger Nikolaj Ehlers leading the way.
He is joined by four other NHL players in goaltenders Frederik Andersen (Hurricanes) and Mads Sogaard (Senators) as well as forwards Lars Eller (Senators) and Oliver Bjorkstrand (Lightning).
This is just the second time that Denmark will be participating in Olympic men’s hockey after finishing seventh at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
Denmark pulled off one of the biggest upsets in tournament history at the 2025 IIHF World Championships, defeating Canada in the quarter-finals, and finished fourth for their highest-ever finish.
This is the first time since 2014 that NHL players will be participating in the Olympics. The tournament runs from Feb. 11 to 22.
