The Vancouver Canucks have kinda been all over the place lately, wanting to rebuild and get younger, but also trying to sign veterans instead of trading them like Kiefer Sherwood, another veteran who should be getting moved is Tyler Myers, Jim Rutherford should shop him around and see what kind of return they can get.
“What the Canucks are going to try do now is get the young players they brought in developed as fast as possible to compete again, but just because they are two years older than a draft pick would be, means it’s retool instead of a rebuild according to them. But nobody is buying that, the fans nor the analysts.”-Stinson
The Vancouver Canucks have some decisions to make with Tyler Myers.
Stephan Roget of Canucks Army reported on the possibility of moving Tyler Myers to another team. Despite the fact he has some no-trade clauses, if those were to be waived, his trade value would be quite high.
“Or, on the other hand, should the team be doing what it can to explore the trade value of Myers? Because, make no mistake, while navigating Myers’ no-trade clauses may prove difficult, were that barrier to be overcome, he would hold immense value all his own.”-Roget
The expectation would be that Victor Mancini would fill that last spot on the right side next year, if they can move Myers, Mancini had a successful training camp this year, but was sent down as there wasn’t any room for him on the right side, and now there would be.
“Mancini will have another season of waiver-exemption after this one, as he’s only in his second professional season. So, sending him to Abbotsford will be an option next year. At the same time, however, Mancini will turn 24 this summer. It’s approaching the point at which, if Mancini is going to be any part of the long-term plan, you really want him playing those NHL minutes. Especially if he’s once again earned them in Training Camp.”-Roget
It might not even be that difficult for Myers to waive the trade clauses, the team isn’t in any position to contend, and he want might want an opportunity to win somewhere else. It would be beneficial for both parties.
