The Calgary Flames take a three-game losing streak into TD Garden to face the Boston Bruins tonight, and neither team has been lighting up the scoreboard.

My top Flames vs. Bruins predictions and NHL picks are calling for a low-scoring bout between Calgary and Boston tonight.

Flames vs Bruins prediction

Flames vs Bruins best bet: Under 5.5 (+110)

The Calgary Flames head south following a 4-1 loss to the Canadiens on Wednesday, and they’ve now been limited to a single goal in consecutive games and also rank last in the NHL in goals per road game (2.18).

Calgary also sits 32nd in the league in power-play percentage and 31st in team shooting percentage at 5-on-5.

Offense hasn’t consistently been the calling card for the Boston Bruins, either.

The Boston Bruins are reeling along a 2-5-2 stretch with an average of just 2.67 goals per game, and Boston also ranks 24th in expected goals per 60 minutes at 5-on-5 for the season.

With the Bruins ranking 22nd in Corsi For percentage and shot share at 5-on-5 while also allowing the fourth-most shots per game (30.0), I’m eyeing a pair of Flames in the shots market.

Calgary captain Mikael Backlund has recorded 2+ shots in 11 of his past 13 games for a team-high 43 total on 67 attempts, and he’s also posted a solid 53.8 CF% and 52.4% shot share at 5-on-5 during the stretch.

Defenseman Rasmus Andersson has also been a consistent shooter while logging huge minutes (24:10) for the Flames. The 29-year-old Swede has hit the net two or more times in 10 of his past 15 games, and Andersson is second on the club in attempts for the campaign.
