Vancouver Canucks star forward Elias Pettersson opened up recently about his injury and how it’ll effect him for the remainder of the NHL’s 2025-26 season.
After a difficult 2024-25 campaign, Elias Pettersson was determined to bounce back this year and despite a rough first six weeks of the season, he was able to do just that.
Pettersson ultimately missed eight games before returning to the Vancouver Canucks’ lineup on December 27th against the San Jose Sharks, where he had three shots in a 6-3 loss, and in an interview with Sportsnet recently, revealed some unfortunate news regarding that injury.
Vancouver Canucks’ Elias Pettersson shares unfortunate news regarding injury
“I think I was doing okay. But injuries happen. Now that I’m back, I’m just trying to work my hardest out there and play the right way It’s going to be a nagging injury for a while, probably the rest of the season. But I can play with it. In some situations, there’s some pain, but I can push through it.” Pettersson said to MacIntyre.
It’s going to be interesting to see how the Vancouver Canucks proceed with Elias Pettersson, who has been mentioned in trade rumors lately, because if they remain out of the playoff picture in the Western Conference after the trade deadline, perhaps we could see Adam Foote give the Swedish forward a night off here and there to rest his nagging injury.
Even though Pettersson is still dealing with that injury, he’s played quite well since returning in late December as the Sundsvall, Sweden native has three goals and four points in his last six games.
Pettersson will look to keep his recent hot streak going on Thursday night as the Vancouver Canucks continue their six-game road trip with a stop in The Motor City where they’ll take on the Detroit Red Wings, with puck drop set for just after 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet Pacific.
