ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Two current Rockford IceHogs skaters are on their way to California.
Thursday the Chicago Blackhawks sent goalie Laurent Brossoit and defenseman Nolan Allan to the San Jose Sharks for defensemen Ryan Ellis and Jake Furlong.
Chicago also received a 2028 fourth-round pick for a 2028 seventh-round pick.
Allan and Brossoit were on the IceHogs at the time of Thursday’s trade.
Allan tallied two goals and four assists in 29 games with the Hogs this season. He recorded 29 points from 2023-26 in 109 regular-season games in Rockford. During the 2025 AHL postseason Allan tallied four assists in seven games.
The 22-year-old also skated in 43 games with the Blackhawks where he put up one goal and seven assists. The Blackhawks drafted Allan 32nd overall in the 2021 NHL Draft.
Brossoit signed with Chicago as a free agent in July 2024. The Blackhawks sent him to Rockford on a conditioning assignment in December 2025.
The 32-year-old netminder went 3-3 in six games with the Hogs. He scored his first pro goal Dec. 12, 2025 at the BMO Center against the Milwaukee Admirals.
Ellis’ played in 566 NHL games between the Nashville Predators and Philadelphia Flyers. He scored 76 goals and 199 career assists. The 35-year-old also helped the Predators to the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.
Furling’s played in 12 games with the San Jose Barracuda this year where he got two assists. The 21-year-old Canadian’s tallied 10 points in 78 career AHL games.
