GM Chris Drury will have to go to work in July in order to bolster a Rangers roster that’s incapable of making it to the playoffs. He could look to a familiar place to find another 60+ point scorer, the Vancouver Canucks as Brock Boeser will be a free agent in July.

The New York Rangers will have to consider free agency in order to add talent to bolster the lineup for a potential playoff run in 2025.

One top-six winger they could consider adding, would be Brock Boeser who’s a pending UFA and unlikely to be extended by the Vancouver Canucks.

While it’s ill-advised to never-say-never, it’s nearly May and extension talks haven’t begun for him and the club, and that could mean he’ll walk in July.

According to Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet’s Saturday Headlines, the Canucks don’t seem ready to sign Boeser to a long-term deal.

«I understand the big issue is term,» Friedman said. «Never say never, but term is the issue that both Boeser and the Canucks have found hard to bridge.»

Where is Boeser linked at the moment? According to Canucks Insider Patrick Johnston, one team who is interested in acquiring the Minnesota-born forward is the New York Rangers.

The Rangers desperately need offensive firepower, and Boeser, who tallied 73 points in 2023-2024, could be the solution to some of the team’s woes.

He could also bolster the team’s power-play unit.

If GM Chris Drury wants to find a reliable top-six winger who already has a relationship with JT Miller, here he is.
