The Vancouver Canucks took a gamble on trading for Evander Kane from the Edmonton Oilers, and now there is a rumour circulating that they actually tried to trade him back to his original team, as he hasn’t performed the way they anticipated.

“Despite the excitement of bringing Evander Kane to his hometown team, it hasn’t worked out at all for the Vancouver Canucks as the 34-year-old winger has just six goals and 13 points in 41 games, all while playing primarily in a top-six role.”-Jaxon

Evander Kane trade rumours heat up.

Trevor Beggs of the Daily Hive reported on the veteran forward almost making his way back to Edmonton. He definitely saw way more success there than in Vancouver, mostly due to the fact that the Oilers have players who compliment his play style. Kane finishes plays, he doesn’t drive them, and the Canucks do not have many play drivers.

“Kane spent three seasons in Edmonton, where he twice played a supporting role as the Oilers made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Vancouver native scored six goals in 21 postseason games with the Oilers during last spring’s Cup run. He only has six goals total in 42 regular-season games this season with the Canucks.”-Beggs

Apart from that Kane often comes with some baggage, he makes more headlines off the ice than on the ice, and it’s not worth the Canucks keeping around for his lack of production. He will likely be traded by the Trade Deadline but to who remains a mystery still.
