Vancouver Canucks News & Notes:

The Vancouver Canucks have not had the season they had hoped for, after another tough season last year. The Canucks traded their captain and best player earlier this season, and now sit tied for last place in the league. The Canucks are looking like sellers at this point, and in a good draft year could end up with quite a skilled player if they remain at the bottom of the standings. Still, the Canucks players will continue to work hard as they try to see if there’s any hope in salvaging the season. The Canucks are open for business, as they look to build a team that may not build wins now but will have success in the future.

Toronto Maple Leafs News & Notes:

The Toronto Maple Leafs enter tonight’s Hockey Night in Canada game looking to continue with their success as of late. It’s really been a tale of two seasons, as the Leafs struggled in all aspects up until a mid December powerplay coaching change, and since then have won 14 out of a possible 16 points. The Leafs are back in the race for the playoffs, but will need to keep their foot on the gas against the Canucks tonight as some of the competition in the Atlantic has been playing well too, so a battle to the playoffs will not be easy.

Players To Watch:

Vancouver Canucks

Elias Pettersson is the most skilled core piece still remaining after the Canucks moved as of late. Pettersson is a skilled forward who has offensive potential and if the Canucks are to win tonight, chances are he will be a factor. Pettersson has two goals and an assist in his last four games and will look to start building some momentum now that he’s back in the lineup.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Matthew Knies has been performing well as of late after a mid season slump and will look to keep that going tonight as he finds himself back on the wing of Auston Matthews. Nylander and McCabe both draw back into the lineup from injury as they look to bolster an already surging lineup. Look for the Leafs offense to keep pushing tonight as they look to dominate possession and convert on their chances.
