John Gibson continues to roll and got support Saturday from his team’s big scorers.

Gibson made 27 saves for his 27th career shutout and third this season and the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-0 at Bell Centre.

The Red Wings (27-15-4) passed the Canadiens to move into sole possession of first place in the Atlantic Division with 58 points. They have won three in a row and are 14-4-3 in their past 21.

Gibson is 12-2-0 in his past 14 starts.

Alex DeBrincat tallied a goal and two assists. Dylan Larkin scored a goal and contributed an assist. Lucas Raymond scored a goal.

Montreal (25-14-6) had its three-game winning streak snapped and is 10-3-3 in its past 16.

Leading 2-0, DeBrincat scored a big goal 34 seconds into the third period when he received a pass from Patrick Kane in the slot and blasted a one-timer past Jacob Fowler.

DeBrincat and Larkin are tied for the team lead with 23 goals.

The Red Wings scored twice in the second period following a scoreless first.

Raymond caught a break to score his 14th of the season and third in as many games at 4:52. The puck took an unexpected hop off the boards after James van Riemsdyk dumped it in, and Raymond deposited it into an empty net after Fowler had come out of his net to play it.

Larkin scored at 11:43 on the power play after he won the face-off and then set up for a one-timer on a pass from DeBrincat.

Andrew Copp capped the scoring with his seventh goal ay 18:53 of the third.

The Red Wings host the Carolina Hurricanes Monday following a pregame ceremony raising Sergei Fedorov’s No. 91 to the rafters as the ninth player in franchise history to have his jersey retired.
