The Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Monday that prospect goaltender Harrison Meneghin was signed to a three-year, entry-level contract after an inspiring end to the 2025 WHL postseason.
Meneghin has helped lead the Medicine Hat Tigers to their first Memorial Cup appearance since 2007. Through 16 post-season games, he recorded a 14-1 record while posting a .906 save percentage, a 2.35 goals against average and three shutouts. His efforts earned him WHL Playoff MVP honors, which made him only the third player in Tigers history to receive the award.
But Meneghin’s story goes deeper than numbers. On March 23, the final day of the regular season, he suffered the sudden loss of his father, Derek. Just days later, he rejoined the Tigers in time for the opening round.
“There’s been so many ups and downs throughout this journey, but the thing that makes it awesome is the people you share these moments with,” Meneghin told Medicine Hat News after the game. “My teammates, my family, even my friends, I feel like this is needed for a lot of people. So I’m super happy right now, just looking back at everything that’s happened, it’s one of the bright things.”
“There’s so many people here, so many special people that, you know, I love so dearly. It’s super awesome to share this moment with them.”
The Tigers all played with stickers on their helmets with ’35, Dad,’ in honor of the Meneghin family.
In 126 career WHL games with Medicine Hat and the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Meneghin has a 69-42-8-3 record with a .910 save percentage, 2.68 goals against average and seven shutouts.
Meneghin was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round, 206th overall, of the 2024 NHL Draft.
