Two division leaders meet in the NHL on Monday night as the Detroit Red Wings host the Carolina Hurricanes at Little Caesars Arena.

Detroit is topping the Atlantic Division with a 27-15-4 record and 58 points, while Carolina holds the first spot in the Metropolitan Division with a 28-14-3 record and 59 points. Additionally, both teams will put winning streaks on the line on Monday night in Motown.

The Red Wings have won three consecutive games and wrapped up last week with their third shutout of the season. John Gibson pushed aside 27 pucks, and Alex DeBrincat led the offense with three points (one goal, two assists) as Detroit beat the Montreal Canadiens 4-0 on the road.

The Hurricanes enter the week with four straight wins. Rod Brind’Amour’s team has rebounded from a 2-5-1 run. The offense has found consistency, and Brandon Bussi’s Cinderella story continues in goal.

Bussi boasts a 16-2-1 record for his rookie campaign, becoming the first netminder in NHL history to win 10 games in his first 11 appearances. He has a 2.28 goals-against average, a .904 save percentage, and one shutout. Bussi beat the Red Wings with 18 saves when these teams met for the first time this season, helping Carolina to a 5-2 victory.
