Season series: Lightning lead 2-0

The Lightning extended their winning streak to 9 games Saturday with a dominant 7-2 road victory over Philadelphia in the first game of a home-and-home series. Tampa Bay cashed as a -182 favorite as the over (7.5) hit. Tampa Bay won 3-0 in the first meeting of the season Nov. 24.

Lightning at Flyers picks and predictionsPrediction

Lightning 5, Flyers 2

PASS.

If you’d feel more comfortable betting the Lightning (-155) straight up, that’s understandable, but I’ll take the plus odds on the puck line.

BET LIGHTNING -1.5 (+155).

The case to lay the puck line with the Lightning is straightforward. Tampa Bay enters Monday riding a 9-game winning streak and just dismantled the Philadelphia Flyers 7-2 in this same building Saturday. In 2 meetings this season, the Lightning have outscored Philadelphia 10-2 and controlled play in every phase.

The offense is humming behind Kucherov, who carries a 9-game point streak and torched the Flyers with a 4-point night. His ability to create off the rush has consistently exposed Philadelphia’s defensive breakdowns.

At the other end, Vasilevskiy continues to anchor things. He owns a dominant career track record against the Flyers and is locked in during this winning run. Philadelphia, meanwhile, remains shorthanded, with injuries to key contributors like RW Travis Konecny thinning an already inconsistent lineup.

The Flyers’ motivation for a response is noted, but Tampa Bay’s form, depth and matchup edges point to another multi-goal win.

BET OVER 6 (-120).

This matchup has trended high, with the Over hitting in 6 of the last 9 meetings, including Saturday’s blowout. Tampa Bay is rolling offensively, ranking third in the NHL at 3.5 goals per game and averaging more than 4 goals during its 9-game win streak. Philadelphia has also seen the Over cash in 7 of its last 10, and injuries have only weakened its defensive structure.
