The Toronto Maple Leafs’ quick turn around in the standings is haunting haters who had the team completely counted out in November.
There is still some ground to make up, but fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs should be feeling much better after the team’s recent stretch of play that has them steadily climbing the standings and inching towards a playoff spot.
The Maple Leafs sport a 7-1-2 record in their last 10 games, are on a three game winning streak, and are clawing their way out of the bottom of the Atlantic Division.
Just a short while ago, things didn’t look so rosy. That brought out all kinds of haters who are now being forced to eat their words.
Hater gets receipt after mocking the Toronto Maple Leafs
In late November of 2025 a fan of the Ottawa Senators decided to mock the team on X with a post showing how the team was dead last in the Atlantic Division with a dismal 9-10-3. The post encouraged everyone to laugh at Toronto.
A savvy fan of the Maple Leafs spotted the tweet, and has pointed out the discrepancy between how the two teams have fared since the post. For the record, Toronto has gone 13-5-4, while the Ottawa Senators are 9-13-1.
It’s a great reminder to never count out any team before the season is even half over.
Even after digging themselves a hole in the first part of the season, the Maple Leafs are now just seven points away from the Detroit Red Wings, who are currently first in the Atlantic and have played two more games than Toronto in 2025-26. The team knows there’s still lots of work to do, but things look much less bleak now than they did just a short while ago.
The icing on the cake with this one? The Ottawa Senators are now in last place in the Atlantic Division. Oh, how the tables have turned.
Rather than boasting about the turnaround, Maple Leafs fans are largely taking this recent hot streak with a grain of salt, because we know how quickly things can turn, and we certainly don’t want to be the ones left with egg on our faces after all is said and done.
