Representatives from the NHL, along with Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula and other team officials, will hold a press conference Monday night, prior to the Sabres’ game against the Florida Panthers. The press conference is set to start at 6 p.m.Â
The Associated Press reported Monday morning that, per a source with knowledge of the decision, the league has selected Buffalo to host June’s NHL draft.
This would mark the fourth time in franchise history Buffalo has hosted the draft. The Sabres previously hosted drafts in 1991, 1998 and 2016.
This year’s NHL draft will be the second under the league’s decentralized format, where teams stay in their home cities and draft remotely, rather than bring each team’s front-office and executive staffs to a predetermined city.
The 2026 NHL draft will be held June 26-27. The draft lottery is expected to be held in early May.
