The 2026 NHL Draft is returning to Buffalo for the first time since 2016 when the Toronto Maple Leafs selected Auston Matthews first-overall.
The NHL and the Buffalo Sabres have scheduled a news conference for 6pm ET today at KeyBank Center with Sabres owner Terry Pegula, Sabres COO Pete Guelli, and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to formally announce he news.
It had been reported last week that Buffalo was the frontrunner to host the event. Denver and Montreal were among the other markets in consideration for the event.
The 2026 NHL Draft is slated for June 26-27 where the hockey world may see projected star Gavin McKenna selected first-overall.
Last year’s NHL Draft took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
This will mark the fourth time the Sabres host the draft, and today’s event will air live on NHL Network.
