Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote has made a big change to the team’s lineup for tonight’s game at the Bell Centre against the Montreal Canadiens.

Injury issues are starting to cause a problem cause a problem once again for the Vancouver Canucks as goaltender Thatcher Demko was placed on IR on Sunday, while it was announced today that forward Kiefer Sherwood is day-to-day and could miss upwards of a week.

Vancouver’s swap on the blue line yesterday will have an affect on tonight’s lineup in Montreal as Adam Foote has announced a big change as they prepare for their all-Canadian clash on Prime Monday Night Hockey against the Canadiens.

On Monday morning, the Canucks took to the ice and we got our first glimpse at tonight’s projected lineup, with Nikita Tolopilo set to get the start between the pipes, his first in the National Hockey League since December 8th against the Detroit Red Wings.

“Nikita Tolopilo left the ice surface first among #Canucks goalies at morning skate. Suggests that he’ll start Monday in the first leg of a back-to-back set.” Thomas Drance of The Athletic said.

There are a few notable changes to tonight’s lineup as well as forward Conor Garland returns after a five-game absence due to injury, while Zeev Buium, who was acquired from the Minnesota Wild in the Quinn Hughes trade last month, is set to be a healthy scratch.

“#Canucks took the morning skate with the following alignment:

DeBrusk-E. Pettersson-Karlsson
Garland-Kampf-Boeser
Öhgren-Sasson-DOC
Kane-Räty-Höglander

Willander-Hronek
Joseph-Myers
Pettersson-Mancini

Extras: Bains, Buium
Non-contact: Chytil, Blueger” – Thomas Drance shared.

Following the morning skate, Adam Foote met with reporters and explained his decision to make Zeev Buium a healthy scratch tonight against the Canadiens, calling it a bit of a reset for the blueliner as they won’t want things to become too overwhelming.

“We were monitoring him to make sure it didn’t become too overwhelming for him. I’m not saying it is, but we’re allowing him to reset. We’ve seen young defensemen thrown into the deep end too early in their careers and not get moments like this. It’s part of a young person’s education and development.” Adam Foote said after the morning skate.

In 13 game since joining the Vancouver Canucks, the San Diego, California native has four points (one goal, three assists), six penalty minutes and is a minus-seven.
