An insider revealed some interesting news this week about Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson, who is reportedly drawing interest on the trade market.

Along with players like Kiefer Sherwood, Evander Kane and Teddy Blueger, the Vancouver Canucks are also expected to receive interest in others that are under contract beyond this season, such as forward Jake DeBrusk, who has had a rough go in the second year of a seven-year deal he signed in the summer of 2024.

“I think Vancouver would like to move Jake Debrusk, he does have trade protection, but it’s maybe not as cut and dried as some would think.” TSN’s Darren Dreger said.

“That’s the thing to keep an eye on…There’s a bit more intrigue around him. That doesn’t mean Canucks are going to trade him…But I do think we’re going to hear more and more about teams checking in on him.” Shah said.

“I do think there are teams that are intrigued, I think is the best way to say it, now will the Canucks be able to find commensurate value in return is a totally different part of the equation.” Seravalli said on Monday.

Trading Elias Pettersson right now, unless they’re wowed by an offer, doesn’t make a ton of sense for General Manager Patrik Allvin. The Canucks should allow Pettersson to build up his trade value in the final three months of the season and if they want to move him, test the market in the offseason.
