SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — The NHL and the Utah Mammoth announced that the Utah Mammoth will host the Colorado Avalanche in an outdoor 2027 Winter Classic game at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Utah is scheduled to play Colorado in what will be the 18th Winter Classic in January.

Utah Mammoth owner Ryan Smith shared his excitement on social media about bringing the game to Utah.
“At SEG, our goal is to bring great things and build Utah. This is one of those things. The 18th Winter Classic coming to Utah in our third year in the NHL. Couldn’t be more excited! Big things ahead,” the post read.
The NHL said the “Rocky Mountain Rivalry” will be the league’s first outdoor game in Utah. The Mammoth will be the 14th NHL team to host a Winter Classic.
