Based on the New York Rangers morning practice on Monday, it appears that forward Matt Rempe will be benched for their upcoming game against the Seattle Kraken.

Monday morning skate at Madison Square Garden hinted at a real lineup change, because Rempe was not in the rushes and Vince Z. Mercogliano wrote it «looks like Rempe is coming out.» The New York Rangers will host Seattle on Monday night.

Matt Rempe scratched ahead of the Rangers vs Kraken game

Sullivan has talked up the fourth line as a momentum weapon, yet the Rangers also need more finish in the middle six right now. When you’re chasing goals, a nine-minute night from Rempe becomes a tougher sell.

However, in Hartford, he’s at 10 points in 19 AHL games, which at least says the motor is running. If he’s playing with Noah Laba and Alexis Lafreniere like the skate suggested, that line should be faster through the neutral zone.

Here’s the #NYR morning skate look:

Panarin – Zibanejad – Cuylle
Miller – Trocheck – Perreault
Othmann – Laba – Lafrenière
Brodzinski – Carrick – Raddysh

Gavrikov – Schneider
Robertson – Borgen
Soucy – Morrow

Looks like Rempe is coming out.

The other ripple is Gabe Perreault getting a look higher, with J.T. Miller and Vincent Trocheck at the skate. That’s a real trust signal, especially after the coach and leaders have been begging for a reset.

Against Seattle, the Rangers don’t need a heavyweight statement, they need cleaner entries and fewer wasted power plays. If Othmann can turn one zone touch into a rebound chance, the scratch conversation shifts fast.
