The Vancouver Canucks organization have officially completed a trade this week involving a 24-year-old winger who spent parts of two seasons in the WHL.
Since the puck dropped on the 2025-26 season all the way back in October, the Vancouver Canucks, along with their minor league affiliates – the AHL’s Abbotsford Canucks and ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings – have struggled, with injuries playing a big factor in where each team is in their respective league standings.
This week, with Kalamazoo inching closer to being in a playoff position, the Wings have completed another trade, acquiring a 24-year-old winger who fans in the Western Hockey League might be familiar with.

In a press release yesterday afternoon, the Kalamazoo Wings announced that they’ve acquired forward Kishaun Gervais from the Adirondack Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils, in exchange for future considerations.
“The Kalamazoo Wings, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks, announced Tuesday that forward Kishaun Gervais has been acquired from the Adirondack Thunder for future considerations.” the club announced on their website.
The 24-year-old, who spent parts of two seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Portland Winterhawks, is currently in his third year of professional hockey after making the jump ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, which he played mostly with the ECHL’s Tulsa Oilers.
The following season, Gervais decided to head overseas to Finland, where he suited up in 22 games for RoKi, who play in the nation’s second tier – Mestis, before returning to the ECHL shortly before Christmas where he’d play for the Tulsa Oilers once again, as well as the Adirondack Thunder.
Prior to being dealt to the Kalamazoo Wings, the 24-year-old registered six points (two goals, four assists), 56 penalty minutes and is a minus-one in 21 games with Adirondack.
Gervais, who is from Keeseekoose First Nation, Saskatoon, is expected to make his debut with the Kalamazoo Wings tonight as they take on the Iowa Heartlanders, who sit dead last in the ECHL’s overall standings, at 5 p.m. PT.
