The New York Rangers could be buyers during the postseason if the talent is worth the money. One pending UFA is Mitch Marner, and he could add some significant goal-scoring depth to a team that lacked firepower in 2024-2025. What will it cost GM Chris Drury to acquire him?

Marner’s Toronto Maple Leafs were eliminated swiftly by the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the second round of this year’s NHL playoffs. He could be the answer to the Rangers’ scoring drought.

The team needs a top-six forward like Mitch Marner, who could complement JT Miller on the wing. The only question is whether or not Mitch Marner will reach UFA status in July.

The Rangers will have to consider the option of signing Marner, and NHL Insider Frank Seravalli has revealed the cost.

Mitch Marner’s Projected Contract

In what could be what prices him out of Toronto, it could be the next best thing for the Rangers’ lineup.

According to Frank Servalli, the New York Rangers may have to pony up to $13 million in order to secure the 100+ point Maple Leafs forward.

His AAV this year was a “modest” $10.9 million compared to his core four teammates, who get paid handsomely.

Marner’s been silent on his future with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and could signal the end of the relationship between the two.

You have to imagine the relationship is already strained, considering Brad Treliving attempted to trade him to the Carolina Hurricanes.

It’ll be interesting to see where Marner lands once July 1st rolls around.
