It keeps going from bad to worse for the Philadelphia Flyers. Fresh off a 5-2 loss that also featured the departure of their starting goaltender, the Flyers were back on the receiving end of another blowout on Thursday night.

The Pittsburgh Penguins scored two goals in each period on the way to a 6-3 drubbing of the Flyers. It marked the fifth straight loss for the Flyers are fourth in regulation.

The Penguins got a power play just 23 seconds into the game and turned it into a goal at 2:16. Justin Brazeau finished off a tic-tac-toe passing play for his 13th goal of the season to make it 1-0.

The Penguins added to the lead at 12:25. Bryan Rust scored on the power play for his 17th goal of the season to make it a 2-0 game.

Through 20 minutes, shots were 13-8 Pittsburgh.

Just 1:16 into the second, the Penguins made it 3-0 with a goal off the rush by Egor Chinakhov. The Flyers scored just 61 seconds later with Rodrigo Abols getting a deflection to make it 3-1.

The Flyers made a goalie change at that point. Sam Ersson exited after allowing three goals on 14 shots.

The margin held at two goals until the final two minutes of the period. With 1:31 to play, the Penguins restored the three-goal lead with a goal by Blake Lizotte.

Through two periods, shots were 26-25 Pittsburgh.

The Penguins truly put the game away with two quick goals in the third. After Matvei Michkov was in his first NHL fight, standing up for teammate Denver Barkey, Sidney Crosby scored on the power play for his 25th goal and 650th goal of his career. Just 1:17 after that, Connor Dewar scored off a turnover to make it 6-1.

The Flyers added two goals in the remainder of the third. Nick Seeler scored his second goal of the season at 10:54. Michkov scored his 10th goal of the season at 17:25.

Aleksei Kolosov made 13 saves on 16 shots in the loss. Stuart Skinner made 30 saves on 33 shots in the win.

Barkey had two assists for the Flyers. Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Tommy Novak each had two points for Pittsburgh.

The Flyers return home on Saturday afternoon to take on the New York Rangers at 1 p.m.
