A new report this week suggests what Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin could end up receiving in return for forward Evander Kane before the deadline.

It’s safe to say that the Evander Kane experiment has not worked out for the Vancouver Canucks after acquiring the nine-time 20-goal scorer in the offseason from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

“According to several sources, the Vancouver Canucks have let it be known that – in an effort to get younger – they are willing to listen to offers on ‘veteran players.'” Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said in late-November.

Despite his struggles this season, there will definitely be teams interested in Evander Kane closer to the deadline, especially for the grit he brings, which is needed come playoff time, and his experience, with back-to-back trips to the Stanley Cup Final under his belt.

“Given the Canucks’ direction, the pending unrestricted free agent winger isn’t in Vancouver’s plans beyond this season. He will likely be dealt prior to the trade deadline.” Drance said.

He went on to add, “At this point, it seems like the Canucks may be able to recoup the mid-round pick they paid for Evander Kane…but that might be all that the club can expect. The sense I get is that the trade market for Kane is lukewarm at the moment.”

If the Vancouver Canucks can hold off until deadline day before parting with Evander Kane, it’ll allow him to build up his trade value a little bit and perhaps a contender might swoop in and offer Patrik Allvin a third or fourth round pick.
