We’ve got a busy day of Flyers talk following yet another crushing loss, this time vs. a division rival.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: The Flyers have now lost five games in a row. Not good. Their losing skid continued on Thursday, falling 6-3 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Keystone State Rivalry game.

It was another ugly, ugly game for the Flyers. If there was any bright spot, it was that the young guys, specifically Denver Barkey and Matvei Michkov, played really well, and particularly well together. However, it was another game where the team needed more from its veteran presence.

If we’re going to talk positives, well, Michkov showed some real leadership on Thursday. I know he’s been itching for a fight, but he typically does it on his own, before it gets broken up. On Thursday, he stepped big time after rookie Denver Barkey got crushed, dropping the gloves with Blake Lizotte for his first career fight.

And finally. Thursday was a chance for Sam Ersson to prove he can be beneficial to the team as a backup with Dan Vladar absent. We all know the Flyers’ No. 2 netminder can be better – we have seen it. But it has not been his season, and he was pulled after about 22 minutes on Thursday.

So, is it time to move on? And if so, what options remain available for the Flyers?

SportsNet: We’ve got a new NHL trade board, circulating, and adding more rumors as the deadline (and minideadline) season approaches. On his trade board 2.0, Nick Kypreos takes a look at the plethora of Canucks and Flames on the list, as well as a handful of surprise additions, including the leading American point and goal scorer.

Vegas Hockey Now: Who stayed up for the game following the Flyers on ESPN last night? I kept it on as background noise while I finished up some postgame content. By the time I shut my computer, I was hooked. Vegas came marching back and tied the game in the waning seconds before taking down Toronto in OT in the game of the year.

There were more than one reason why that game was so great. One of which, it was a revenge game. For the first time in his NHL career, nine-year Maple Leaf Mitch Marner lined up against the Leafs, not for them. Hannah Kirkell was there to talk to Marner after his two-point night, where he told reporters that the game “meant a little more to me”.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: So, a job opening for a Penguins Assistant Coach position surfaced on TeamWork Online on Wednesday. Interesting, right? It’s not every day you see positions like that on public job sites (though I did once consider applying for the position of OC for Penn football that was publicly available, so I could climb the ladder and eventually fix the Eagles offense). However, Dan Kingerski did some digging, and the job posting may not be as interesting as it seems.
