A National Hockey League insider has linked Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood to a Pacific Division club, with a trade potentially coming soon.
Despite his injury, which could keep him out upwards of three weeks, action appears to be picking up on the trade front in regards to Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood.
The New York Rangers, who have now signalled they are entering a retooling period, made an offer for Kiefer Sherwood recently that included a second round pick and a young player, but it was ultimately rejected by Patrik Allvin.”But I think an interesting point comes out of those discussions that were had with Vancouver and New York.
What the Rangers put on the table, I’m told, for trying to get Sherwood out of Vancouver was a young player with pedigree and a second-round pick.
That wasn’t good enough to get it done recently. I think that tells us a lot about how Vancouver views the guy that it’s likely going to be having the easiest time to move.” TSN’s Chris Johnston said.

According to Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali, he believes the Vancouver Canucks have realized they’re not going to get that first round pick they desire and that don’t be surprised if a deal happens sooner rather than later.
Dhaliwal added that he was told to keep an eye on the San Jose Sharks as a potential landing spot for Kiefer Sherwood, a team that hasn’t made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs since 2019, but currently occupy a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference thanks to a solid year thus far from Macklin Celebrini.
“I was told last night don’t be surprised if something happens sooner than later…Sounds like Canucks have realized they aren’t getting a 1st rounder. I was told to keep an eye on the Sharks.
Mentions Canucks liked Bystedt in draft yr.” Dhaliwal said.
If the Vancouver Canucks were able to get a second round pick as well as 21-year-old centerman Filip Bystedt, who is having a solid year in the American Hockey League, then that would be a great deal for Patrik Allvin and his management group.
We’ll have to wait and see how the coming days and weeks play out, but at this rate, it wouldn’t be a shock to anyone if Kiefer Sherwood is traded before the NHL’s Olympic roster freeze on February 4th.
