The St. Louis Blues (19-21-8) defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning (29-13-4) 3-2 in the shootout on Friday night. With the loss, Tampa Bay saw their winning streak snapped at eleven games, though they did notch another game with a point.
The Blues scored twice in the first period to take an early lead. Tampa Bay answered with two power play goals in the second period – one from Nikita Kucherov and one from Oliver Bjorkstrand – to tie the game 2-2.
That would be the score through three periods and overtime. In the shootout, Jordan Kyrou scored the lone goal that would lift the Blues to the second point. Joel Hofer went 34-for-36 in net to get the win for St. Louis, while Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy saved 19 of the 21 shots he faced in net.
The Lightning now head to Dallas and will play the Stars on Sunday. Puck drop between the Lightning and Stars is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday afternoon.
