Rasmus Andersson is on the move.

The Calgary Flames defenseman has been traded to the Vegas Golden Knights, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.

The return, according to SportsNet’s Elliotte Friedman, os Zach Whitecloud, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick that becomes a first if Vegas wins the Stanley Cup Cup this year, and UND defenseman Abram Weibe.

NHL insider Frank Servalli reported the trade will happen with out a contract extension for Andersson, who is set to become a free agent at the end of this season.

As part of the deal, the Flames will retain 50% of Andersson’s salary. His cap hit for 2025-26 is $4.55 million.

Andersson now joins former Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy in Las Vegas.

The Boston Bruins were linked to Andersson, and were said to be in the “driver’s seat” by Friedman, who noted the Golden Knights were still in the running.

The right-shot defenseman would have been a nice fit for Boston, given its need for the role he plays. Andersson is also a former teammate of Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov.

In 48 games for the Flames this season, Andersson has 10 goals, 20 assists and is averaging 24:14 of ice time.
