Teams of all levels are invited to participate in the 18th annual Anthony Ford Pond Hockey Classic adult games Jan. 31 and youth games Feb. 1 at Spring Lake Park, 650 Webster Ave., North Mankato.

Spectators will not be charged an admission fee. A pier in the park is available for good views of the games slated throughout both tourney days.

The event is named after a young hockey fan who died when he was 9 years old. It’s a fundraiser for childhood leukemia research as well as a resource for youth hockey scholarships.

Anthony Ford Pond Hockey Classic is not USA Hockey or Minnesota Hockey sanctioned.

Jan. 26 is the registration deadline. Registration fees may be paid online at: anthonyford99.com.

Craft beer tasting slated

Samples of craft beers, wines and dirty sodas as well as beverages without alcohol will be served during Sip City Social Jan. 31 in the Grand Hall at Mayo Clinic Health Systems Event Center.

Aquarius and Hilton Garden Inn are sponsors of the late-afternoon event.

Early admission tickets cost $57.80 and allow access from 2-6 p.m.; standard admission tickets are $36.35 and allow access between 3 and 6 p.m.; designated driver admission is $36.25.

Live entertainment and food vendors will be on site.

Polar Plunge volunteers needed

Want to support Special Olympics Minnesota during a local Polar Plunge event, but you’re not the type to jump in a frozen lake in the middle of winter? A variety of roles are available for volunteers are needed at the fundraiser on the north side of St. Peter.

St. Peter’s Polar Plunge begins noon Feb. 7 at Hallet’s Pond. Registration and team check in begins 10 a.m. on the day of the event.
